Text Box: "It's a Labradoodle!"
Text Box: "What Kind of Dog is That?"

Text Box: Andy Service Dog
Text Box: I get asked that question every day, if not dozens of times a day, when I am out and about with my Service Dog, Andy.  My best friend told me, "It is like going around with a movie star!"   He is simply a show stopper!
At the mall my son said he knew just where to find me, look for the biggest crowd! He laughed as he found me surrounded in the crowd:  2 people, a mall security guard included, taking pictures of Andy with their cell phones, 3 children hugging Andy and several families all asking me questions!  The most common one being, "What kind of dog is that?" and then, "What is a Labradoodle?"

Text Box: Within the Labradoodle World there are a variety of Labradoodles.
The Australian Multi-Generation ALF#*- These dogs have originating lines from Australia from either Tegan Park or Rutland Manor Labradoodles and go back to the original Labradoodles.    They include the other parent breeds infused in their lines. The Cocker Spaniel to stabilize and bring bone structure to the miniature lines and the Irish Water Spaniel to bring in the rich chocolate color.  These dogs have been in development for 25+ years and you are usually getting a puppy 4 generations and higher and a dog more purebred-like in consistency in temperament and looks.
The Multi-Generation LF# - These dogs are usually American Lines from breeders that have bred the Labrador and the Poodle for 3 generations or more.
First-Generation LF1 or F1- These dogs are considered the foundation stock and must be Labrador Retriever and Poodle.  They can be either American or English Lab or any size of poodle, Standard, Miniature, and Moyen (standard x miniature).  You will see a lot of differences between these dogs and the multi-gens and even among other F1 Labradoodles. A lot depends on how much of the poodle and lab genes each puppy gets. These dogs are not reliably allergy friendly nor non-low shedding.
First-Generation Backcross F1B or F1p - These dogs are a First-Generation bred to a poodle.  You will usually see the more fluffy coats you see with the later generations of Labradoodles.  This dogs usually have a heavy coat and might have the ear issues of the poodles. They are usually allergy friendly and non-low shedding.
The Labradoodle comes in 3 sizes, the Standard (over 20" at the shoulder), Medium (17"-20") and the miniature (under 17" but above 14").  They come in a variety of colors: apricots, creams, caramel, reds, black, chocolate, cafe, silver, blue, a lavender parchment color, and parti-colors. Some of these colors are rare.
*ALF# - Australian Labradoodle Foundation # (indicates the generation level of the Doodle)
Since this breed is still in development the Standard is being revised. The goal is to see these dogs as an accepted breed and goals are being set to be AKC accepted. Do your homework on any breeder you are considering no matter the generation!

Text Box: A "Labradoodle!" it sounds like something out of a Dr. Seuss book! Their delightful personalities and comic nature could very well be something you might find from a Dr. Seuss character!
The Labradoodle is a combination of the Labrador Retriever and the Poodle for their foundation stock. The best of two very wonderful breeds.
The Australian Labradoodle encompasses 6 parent breeds infused with the foundation stock of the Lab and Poodle.  The 6 parent breeds are Labrador Retriever, Poodle, American and English Cocker Spaniel, Curly Coated Retriever, and the Irish Water Spaniel,

Text Box: A bit of Labradoodle History! The Labradoodle has made a big splash in the dog world!  Originally started because a blind person asked for an allergy friendly guide dog. From there they became popular for people with dog allergies as well as continuing their work in the Service and Therapy dog world.  You can read more about the history of the Labradoodle at http://www.ilainc.com/AboutTheLabradoodle.html
The breed then has gone on to become popular not just for people with allergy issues but for the love of the look, temperament, and personality of this new wonderful type of dog!  In my opinion they are just simply wonderful!  Wonderful Labradoodles! I know mine all are! :)
